IS LIFE A LABYRINTH?
by László Balogh
Isn’t it a good feeling when you figure out the rules of a complicated board game and you start to enjoy playing it? Suddenly things fall into place and start to make sense. You make the right moves and you feel you finally have a chance of winning. You don’t just focus on your next move, but you begin to think ahead and start to anticipate your opponents’ moves. You gained insight, you learned the ropes and you now decide with ease. The formerly complicated game has become elementary.
The “board game” of life has rules too. You know about the back doors, but you know people who got burned by using them. You have questions. How do I maneuver through the maze of life with dignity? How do I avoid falling through a trap door? What is the cost of success and what price is worth paying? I think all of us just want to be happy – plain and simple. But somehow this life has an astonishing way of putting the screws on. Deep inside you know what you should do but you just can’t find a way to make it a reality. Very often the options seem so numerous and confusing that they bring you to a complete halt.
But thankfully the designer of the board game is not hiding in seclusion. The rules are in reach. We can read this next section in the Book of Psalms:
“…but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
We were not meant to just drag through life as victims of circumstances. God gave us a purpose and a way to fulfil it. He wants you to prosper in all aspects of life. And the primary way of getting this done is by meditating on His Words. God’s Words are the rules of the game. Once you get acquainted with them and apply them, you will be prosperous. No doubt about that – the Designer said so.
Change is an inevitable part of life. We all have to make some from time to time. Sometimes it’s not even just a matter of making things better, but a matter of foresight. Being prepared is always better than having to fix something that went wrong. If you find yourself needing to make changes in your life and you are wondering what premises you can base them on, I would be happy to advise you. I help people to untangle knots and build bridges.
